I decided to create a poll, to help with gaining support and to see just how popular this project idea really is. So please take a moment to respond to it. It only takes a few seconds.

Notice:

Hey! This project is still active. I apologize for having not posted any updates for a while, I’ve been busy and I seem to be the only one managing this page/project. But yes. This project is still a go, and hopefully, with a few conventions coming up, we will gain more support!

ALRIGHT ANIME FANARTISTS. THIS IS FOR YOU. Project OtakuTown is having a LOGO CONTEST!

I’ve decided that to help raise support for the project, and as a chance for you all to get involved from right where you are, I will be holding a contest for the official design of the project’s logo. The current one is only temporary, and an official one is needed. The winner will have their design used as the official logo for the project, as well as a lifetime free pass for when the project actually gets off the ground and is completed. The rules and guidelines/requirements for the contest are as follows:

  • You have until January 31st to complete your design and submit it to the project managers.
  • The design must be your own work. No stealing images from elsewhere. (Such as official character art or already existing fan art, unless it is your own.) I’ll be checking that.
  • At least one anime-design character is required. This can be full sized, or chibi, or a bust, basically. Since it wouldn’t be much for advertising an anime related project without one no? You can add more if you want. Feel free to have fun with it, but at least one is required. You may use an existing anime character if you like, however we strongly encourage creating your own! We like individuality, so having our own little mascot would be fun.
  • All logo submissions must be SFW (Safe for work). No nudity, NSFW (Not safe for work) artwork, or any of that sort will be considered. (Although shirtless anime boys are allowed, since there are popular animes with that sort of thing. Free! for example.)
  • You have a maximum space of 800x500 to work with. I don’t want it to get too big or have awkward dimensions since that makes it harder to work with.
  • The project name (Project OtakuTown) must be clearly visible in the logo. Have fun with fancy lettering, or cute writing, just make sure it’s clear and big enough to read, and not hidden behind too much.
  • This is an official logo, so do your best, and try to keep it clean. (Meaning rough sketches and half assed coloring won’t really work.)
  • Be creative, and be colorful! This project is all about fun, so go all out with it!

Good luck you guys! I will be looking forward to seeing your designs. If you have any questions as well, please feel free to contact me, or make a post and tag it with projectotakutown.

Anime Lovers Listen Up! Stop Scrolling A Moment, Because You Don’t Want To Miss This! This is your opportunity for us to have our very own place to call our own. Our own little town. Our Home. (( Updated version ))

We are currently working to start a project that I guarantee all of you will love. It’s a project that we could use your help with however, for those who are willing to lend your special talents to such a project. I introduce to you:

Project OtakuTown

This is an actually legitimate project that we are in the works of making into reality. The project entails the building of a tourist and retreat/vacation site for all of you otakus out there in the USA and Canada (or elsewhere if you wanna travel that far), or in other word, an Anime Theme Park, with hands on activities, very possibly an obstacle course and treehouse, creative anime-related artwork and sculptures, cosplaying, contests, a fantasy garden, and the eventual building of a hotel exclusively for the project, where you can be looked after by your favorite anime or manga character. This is basically our chance to build our own fantasy world for ourselves. One of the other offered ideas we are considering as well is an anime karaoke bar. We will likely have specific sections dedicated to certain fandoms, (a specific section for homestucks is planned for example, as it is a rather large fandom, such as a troll hive-like building) however there will not be favoritism either, and input on which fandoms will have sections will be up to all of you. When the time comes, we will be asking for your vote on the matter. The site will also be open for conventions, anime and otaku related fairs and festivals, and many other opportunities. There is also the intention of expanding it into a small town-like retreat in the eventual future. This would be a year round thing, and a place for anime lovers and manga fans to come and experience at any time. Basically, think of a year round anime convention for anime lovers and otakus alike to come and have fun and relax, and meet others like themselves! If this project does as well as I hope it will, we may even eventually expand to have more locations in other states, and possibly even countries, where it will be more convenient for those who are further away. We are also open to the idea of vendors using our site as a venture to help their own business, as we would all benefit from it, yes? Also, this project is one that I will stress equality for, as this is our place to not be judged. As such, security guards will also be hired eventually to maintain the safety and happiness of all. There will be no hating here. Because our goal is for no one to be left behind or forgotten. c:

In order to do this however, the intention is to start out with about 4-6 acres of land, and building up more as the project gets more off the ground. There is a plot of land (6.5 acres) that we have our eye on in Cadillac, Michigan for the base of the project, in a good location with plenty of room for development, and nearby hotels and an airport.  We are open to other ideas still as well, and so this particular location may change if we find one more suitable, however that is the location that we are going for (since all of us currently working on the project are in Michigan) and thus far, this has been the best site we have found that suits our needs and eventual plans for the project. As of the moment we have 4 people officially on board as far as management, building, and other tasks go for the project.

We are looking for volunteers too to help make this a reality. Anyone with a special skill set or talents that you feel would benefit the project is welcome to inquire about it. This includes advertisement for our project such as posting on other websites and advertising to those who may choose to sponsor us, those with intricate business knowledge, construction skills, gardening, management skills, designing skills, artists, web design, sculpting, ideas, or anything else that you might possibly consider to be an asset. If you feel you may have something to offer, however small it may be, please feel free to contact any of us. Currently we are working on funding the project ourselves, but donations are very much wanted as well! Our current (updated) beginning goal is $300,000 to start out to cover the cost of the land, base building expenses, and other costs. This will likely be increased as time goes on. Please note that this is simply a BEGINNING goal as this will only cover the bare basics, as building such a large scale project from literally the ground up is unfortunately expensive, much to our dismay. We hope to get the project off the ground within a year and a half to two years if people decide to help with donations, however it might take longer if we do most of the funding ourselves.

Those who choose to donate will be given free passes for the opening of the project once it is completed, as well as thank you gifts and prizes once the project gets off the ground.

A donation button for the project’s specific paypal account will be posted on each of the main project managers’ blogs as well as on the main project blog page. Remember! Every tiny bit helps! The main manager for the project is tumblr user tonetic. (Decided on by a group vote.) The other current project managers are kiku-dusk-666justlookin4pics, and itsvongoladecimotsuna

The official blog for the project is projectotakutown.

So will you help make this project a reality and contribute to this awesome project? This is our chance for us to have OUR place. A place for us to call our own, and where never will we be turned away or judged. This is a chance for us to build ourselves a home. So will you help us to achieve this dream?

Every reblog helps put the word out there as well, so don’t forget to hit that button!
